The Timeless Trendy Pearls
The only thing that comes to my mind when I think about pearls is classic and elegant. These beauties have been a sign of wealth and status from the early roman era. In medieval Europe, they were considered as the religious symbols for purity and chastity. Through the times, pearls have been the favorite of all women; they give a charming and graceful look in an instant. Being associated with royalty and glamour, the pearl has long been an object of desire due to its rarity and beauty.
So let me tell you, how a pearl is formed?
Unlike the other gemstones which are formed deep inside the earth, pearls are formed in water and they are the only gemstones that are created by a living organism. Pearls grow in oysters and mussels. When a tiny piece of coral or a tiny living organism accidentally lodges onto the oyster’s skin, in order to protect itself from the irritation, the oyster covers the invader with layers of nacre, the smooth, luminous substance that makes up the pearl. Isn’t it just so incredible, how this precious and unique gemstone is formed.
But it is extremely rare to find a real pearl. The chances of formation are very less and hence, they now created artificially, which are also known as the cultured or cultivated pearls. The process of formation is basically the same but it’s just that the irritation is added artificially into the oysters’ skin. These days we can find a lot of variation in the pearls’ shape and colour, all thanks to the artificial way of producing them.
Whatever the occasion, you can find a style of pearl jewelry to complement your look at any price point. They are classic, elegant, timeless and the sign of a woman of good style and taste. Pearls have become a staple accessory in any woman’s wardrobe. For a graceful and polished look, wear the classic perfectly round white pearl strand necklace, for an edgy look; throw in 3 or more strands of necklace of different sized pearls. This year’s fashion shows of Chanel, Dolce and Gabbana and Michael Kors all went gaga over the pearls, making it the next big thing. So for that ultra-glamorous fashionista look, layer yourself up with chunky pearls.
The pearls have been the favorite of the most powerful and iconic ladies like Princess Diana, Maharani Gayatri devi of Jaipur, Audrey Hepburn and Michelle Obama. See here:
Our very own Bollywood divas have also been love-struck by these lovelies. See, Dia Mirza, Neha Dhupia, Vidya Balan, Sonam Kapoor, Genelia Dsouza, Kangana Ranaut and Shriya Saran adorning themselves with pearls, here:
